  • Overview

    SJS Executives is seeking experienced commercial painters. 

    Responsibilities

    • Preparing surfaces for painting such as: removing old paint, filling holes and washing walls, use of sand paper, wire brushes, scrapers, and filling holes and divots with putty, plaster or caulk. 
    • Ensure that surfaces are not susceptible to moisture by sealing cracks and corners where building materials meet.
    • Ability to select primer and paint, based on the location and type of surface being finished.
    • Apply primer, paint, and other surface treatments at the appropriate spread rate and temperature in order to ensure the best results
    • Use of varnish, oil or paint additives to derive specific colors and textures, also use special techniques to provide decorative and faux finishes,  
    • Use of washes, glazes and layering, and may also use techniques such as sponging, distressing, stippling and color blocking to create desired effects.
    • Job site preparation such as: building of scaffolding and use drop cloths or tape.
    • Job Site clean up sucha as: removing paint spills, dust from sanding and other materials must be cleaned and removed from a completed job site.
    • Able to quote job costs, including manhours, materieals, etc. for budgeting.

    Skill Set: 

    • Ability to perform regular and recurring field inspections, investigations, or surveys in which there is a considerable amount of walking, stooping, bending, and climbing.
    • Ability to perform work in an office setting, with occasional visits to construction sites. Work involves moderate risks of discomforts that require adherence to safety precautions.
    • Strong communication skills in the English language, both written and oral

    Qualifications

    • Valid California State Driver's License - "C" Class
    • U.S. citizenship
    • 5 years of commercial experience  
    • Ability to acquire a Common Access Card (CAC)
    • OSHA 10 Certification obtained before starting work.
